Help changed fuel fitler and still leaking fuel lots

are you talking about the one around the filter itself right?
not the cap

most caps have a flatish taper looking ring thing and the filter element has a round one that goes flat sided after its in a while,:dunno
but nowdays anything is possible.
if i remember right.:dunno

Nah....I'm talking about the one around the cap. The old O-ring was flat side up so I installed the new one the same way....no leak. Several times now I've read I installed it wrong and I'm about to conclude that even though it's wrong, that I got lucky and maybe crimping/bunching up is more a factor in leakage than which way it's put in.:dunno

2K more miles and I'll be taking another look at it.

yep all the leaks i had was due to the ring bunching up or part sliding down as it tighted
sure makes for a nice stream if its just right:roflmao :D
