I just took my end links to the machine shop and in 5 minutes (and $10 later they were out) and I was on my way home to put my red poly energy suspension and Rancho 5000 shocks on. Only took about 3 hours total. Taking them to the machine shop was the easiest thing to do. Let them deal with pressing them out. They have the tools and responsibility to do it right, I watched to make sure. -popcorn

had you blown a factory bushing ?
pushing the "complete"/in-tack bushing out isnt NOT a problem...
i did those at home in a vice...

the problem is if you have the misfortue of blowing a factory
bushing...the rubber center comes out...but it leaves a thin
metal "collar" behind...STUCK in the drop link...

the clearances of the drop link off set and the thin collar left
behind are milimeters...try pushing that out...theres not much to
press on to begin !

i used different nuts on the u-bolt/pumpkin clamp and
the drop links...helwig did NOT send enough to apply
jamb nuts...so i went to lowes and bought nyloc nuts for
all the bolts/threads...aint NOTHING on this thing coming loose
(i had some slippage of the u-clamp after my 1st road test...so
i had to do some minor repositioning and hammering of the nuts
and bolts...my air impact was of GOOD use during this project.

I highly recommend replacing the nuts that Helwig supplies with nyloc nuts. I lost a nut onetime (that sounds painful  ) and the was coming out of the bushing!!

agreed, on the ubolts that go 'round the pumpkin theres barely enough
thread to get a jamb nut on...ive changed everything to nyloc's.

im curious what model bar (number) & how much problem you had
getting the RIGHT one...who'd you buy thru ?

I bought mine thru JC Whitney about a year and a half ago. Unfortunately I don't remember what the part number was. They got it right the first time though :hail I would have hated to have gone thru the install only to find out at the last part of it that it was the wrong one! :guns: Not sure if the part number would be different on an X also. They do make a HUGE difference. I got the patoodie scared out of me when I first bought my X and made a sharp onramp turn, thought I was gonna tip over
