Hello

Well just picked up a 2004 F250 Superduty regular cab a few days ago. It has the infamous 6.0L diesel that everyone is quick to tell me how bad it is lol  But according to my father, who by the way is the local snap on guy lol, he said a lot of the problems are what is behind the wheel not what is under the hood. :) It runs and drives great, just needs some shiny stuff added, kinda vanilla right now. First time owning a diesel, not driving mind you, I drive school bus. But owning is a whole another story I found out, when the dash light came on telling me to drain the water from the thing I cannot remember the name of right now. But yea I know where it is and doing that today, so it is all good. ;tu

Hi Katt! Glad you joined up here. The 'thing' you drained water from is called the HFCM and that means Horizontal Fuel Conditioning Module -or- the water separator. There is a fuel filter that needs to be changed when you think of it. It is a bit messy and requires a filter wrench that is 35 mm socket.

Yea the HFCM. But now that I have done that, I fear the threads on housing are partly stripped. I went and got a new plug and it did snug down, but I didn't dare go past that. What does it take to replace that and what is the cost? As for the filters, my dad already bought them both for me and has a friend that is going to put them in for me.

I have no idea of what the cover that the plug goes into costs. I have the same truck as you have and I have never needed to 'tighten' the plug beyond 'snug'. People over-tighten most plugs making them difficult to remove. We are not talking about a lot of pressure. The HPOP (High Pressure Oil Pump) jacks up the pressure to the injectors to something like 20 to 30 thousand pounds per square inch.

Oh it was on there really tight, took a lot for me to break loose. Well I drove it around and it has not leaked even a little, so it is probably okay. Just a little paranoid I guess, don't want my shiny new truck to have problems :)
