Side note: Joe on Hwy 5 there were signs along the highway near Avenal and south saying "Congress created this dust bowl" that were adjacent to dried up fields. Don't remember seeing so many dried fields in years past. What a shame.
All for the "Delta Smelt"... that they now know, are not even effected by AG water use.
But by the time they get, or got, it turned around.. it'll be to late. Farmer/Rancher friends of mine say it'll take 2 to 3 planting seasons to get the ground back in shape, moisture wize.
Add to the Dry fields.. The Packing Plants, Processing plants going Bust. They, and the Growers Cant Compete with Mexico.. The U S growers are Regulated out of the game now, with unattainable, unrealistic decease prevention controls.
Foreign Produce has NO [enforceable] regs. A USDA/EPA vs. Customs thing.
Sad. And the "Trickle Down" has'nt even started yet.
