Does anyone have references to the pinouts to the headlight plugs and maybe to standard relays? Pointers to reputable online links are fine.

I got my headlight harness from GOS and want to do the diode mod before i tear the truck apart to swap lights, fix the cold front and do the harness install.

I want to document the steps/portions and maybe make a wiki page.

On the diode mod, I did it the hard way.

The easy way is to use the "UNUSED" headlight socket (you only use one headlight socket when installing the upgrade harness).

Break an old lightbulb, tear into it to expose the wires inside the connector, and solder the diode between the HIGH and LOW wires. Banded end of the diode goes towards the LOW BEAM wire.

Seal it up with some rtv and some heat shrink tubing and plug it into your unused headlight plug.

Now, when you turn your HIGHS on, your LOWS stay on as well!

Bulb Wiring

I know its bad form to answer your own questions but I have found the 9007 Bulb pinout info. I am posting this for refernece.

Here is a picture of 9004, 9007 and H4 bulb wirings.

The relay used on the GOS harness is not a standard Bosch type relay, its a 4 pin relay, Type AR350. It is available at NAPA. The first reference I found for it was used on 82-86 Hondas as a fuel pump relay. As its a simple 4 pin relay, its really more like a contactor.

Now having the bulb pinouts, I can trace the wiring and find out which are the proper wires to diode together.

Thanks again for your help

Dennis
