im not sure its used on startup. only on high idle on cold day/night like chicago is having now. It helps bring the operating temp up quicker and keeps it up here in chicago when its 1deg or less out here.

Got to this shortcut and you'll be in the right direction, But be aware that in low temperatures if you do not plug the truck in you will have a hard start condition, I agree/disagree with Big Joe cause he's in California and your in Indiana, temps are much different between those two locations.

I totally agree.. and didn't mean to sound like: Rip the dang thing out'n throw it away..:lmao it probably serves a good purpose in Cooold weather... No Doubt.

;tu here too. I think it comes on-line with the GP's, at any initail cold start. IF.. the High Idle circuit kicks in.. it will cycle again, if the GP's cycle again.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong ?

IHC---You are probably right since Indiana temps and weather are vastly more variable/cold than Cal. It may not he worth the effort. PS: I saw your reply regarding newer rearview mirrows. Do you know if I can easily upgrade my 01 mirrors for newer ones with turn signals and heat? What years could replace my 01 ? Thanks for all your help IHC:hail

Mirrors

;tu Well I got about 6 busted mirrors from the Ford dealer I worked at from warranty claims and customer's replacing there's. So with them I assembled two working mirrors and just bought one led light cover for my pass side, then wired them on a relay and temperature switch, wired lights to front turn signals and markers to my power distribution box for the rest of my lights. If you already have power mirrors then it's easy, any mirror from 1999 to2009 will fit so keep your eyes open for a set, Craigslist,Ebay etc. They are really espensive from the dealer.
