head gaskets

Can someone explain to me, why the head gaskets blow on a 6.0? I know less head bolts than the 7.3 What causes it? too much turbo pressure?
what? I heard the bolts stretch? did ford try to rectify this at all from 03 to 07? I understand the down loaders can advance timing? increase fuel pressure? Also raise turbo pressure. How actually, and whats the cause of the failures?

I have heard that International should have used one more bolt per cylinder, but that is water under the bridge. Head Studs seems to be a cure, but honestly not too many people suffer blown head gaskets. Those who do usually have the engine chipped or a programmer, boosting the engine pressures.

I spoke to somebody at elite and the mentioned the 05 and up has 10% stronger head bolts but the cylinder pressure is still just too much.

If my memory is correct the new bolts are 1-2mm thicker than the 03-04. My 03 was stock and mine blew. Stock trucks 05 and up having blowns HG should be rare.

what causes the cylinder pressure? Odviously compression. Thats there regardless of any programmers. What do the programmers do to raise the pressures? Not overly concerned with mine, just wondering if i do a programmer etc? increase turbo boost?
what pressures do we see stock, and from what are they from. what would over boost be or whats the peramiters?Running these trucks stock but with a buklly dog downloader setof tow i am very happy with the truck. performance is better. Bully dog states that they stay with in permiters, but i dont know what normal is and whats too much. I dont beat my truck. but the extra power is nicer to drive.

I think abuse period will increase the change of problems in your truck. I don't think nessesarily adding a programmer means your going to have more issues, sure is more stress but I drive like a grandma with mine and have had no problems, the last guy who owned my truck had a chip, beat the piss out of it and blew the heads, and turbo. I all think its how you treat the truck.

my 6.0 has run 28-30/32 since new/STOCK
ive not blown any head gaskets.

i think youll find that a TUNER will contribute to
the demise of the head gaskets...every tuner works
in the same basic manner...more fuel, more pressure
and more BOOST...that said its understandable that
the pressure has to go somewhere.

there isnt a SINGLE time that i havent driven my truck
and seen max boost...it happens several times a day <when i
drive it>...ive not had a SINGLE problem <knock on wood>

new studs wont necessarily solve the problem...some have
blown head gaskets AFTER they upgraded the head studs.

i understand more fuel, and more boost. You say more pressure? from what? fuel and boost? or are you referring to more fuel pressure itselfto injectors?

more pressure from fuel <injection> AND boost...obviously its
more complicated than that but thats the jest of it.

I had a turbo charged motorcycle that built so much boost that it
would stretch the head bolts and push the head right off the cylinders :D
