From my hours of reading on the different manufacturers I'd go with Sony over the Vizio but it's all in what your spending limits are;)

We currently have Dish Network but may be swaying back to Direc just due to their HD option is under $10 a month.

Check out AVS Forum as they're the place for everything HDTV.Tons of info to keep you busy for hours Joe:sweet

Mrs CHP has her mind set on the Samsung LCD after seeing everything else.

theres ALOT of OTA (over the air) HD broadcast now...you can
buy an antenna from radio shack or use a "conventional" antenna...
or ever RABBIT ears to pick up HD (over the air).

review the type of antenna that best fits your needs/location via

HDTV * AntennaWeb

the link (above) will even tell you how many stations you can pick up
based on your location (and depending on the antenna)...AND
it will tell you which direction the signal originates from !

another site (that i havent used) is:

HDTV Antenna Selection Guide, Reviews and Information

Thanks all for the info.

Just got back from Wally World with a 32", Sony Bravia. Spent alota time reading stuff about them all. Went with the Gut on the fact that I've had REAL good luck with anything Sony.

Now the fun begins.. The spaghetti Mass & Maze of wires.
I've got the Boze 3-2-1 set up, so it shouldn't be To hard.
Guna go with PCM just to get it going. We have local stations with HD so I'll try them first.

Thanks again (BP & BK) for the sites to look at. I wana get smart about the HDMI etc., and go from there.

You will love that TV. We have a 40" version and have been very happy with it. Monday night football on ESPN is in HD, on Direct TV. Cheerleaders, I mean the Games are sweet! :sweet

the BEST video connection is gonna use a DVI connection (fully digital)
where most of the HDMI interfaces convert digital to analog.

all resolutions (except 1080p) are converted from digital to analog to digital
in their transmissions.

blue-ray (sony proprietary bastards) and hd-dvd (open/published standard &
non-proprietary) are full 1080p DIGITAL data/transmission...1080p is
NOT converted.

unfortunately SONY (bastards), who OWNS SONY PICTURE STUDIOS,
license (for a heafty fee) the blue-ray data format & decompression...so
youll likely NEVER EVER see a sony movie in HD-DVD format.

there are only a FEW players that can play HD-DVD *AND* blu-ray...
and they arent cheap !

can you say vhs vs BETA....we can only hope & pray that sony looses
this WAR too...just like they lost the betamax, SACD & memory-stick war !

Are you sure you have an HD Box? There are different boxes for HD and non HD. We had to get a new box from our cable company. It must have cost, because my wife only got one for the downstairs tv and not the upstairs one.

Well, I got it all hooked up. I'm like'n this thing already, haven't even gone HD yet. The picture quality is Amazing. We had a Sony Wega.. I thought the picture was real good on it.. this Bravia thing is Super Clear & Sharp.

Took me longer to Mod the Entertainment Center thingy, than it did to do the Swap Out. Had to change some shelf heights and so on. Wife needs things to be "In Harmony" with other stuff in the room, "The Flow", as she calls it, ends in "Harmony". Got'r Dun tho.. ;tu ;tu

Jus can't have things out of Harmonious Balance, No Way.

Still got some Tweak'n & Read'n to do.

Thanks again guys.:sweet

Joe

Where Else could a guy go, and get fixes for his truck and info about High Definition TV ... all from the same Web Site:dunno :) ;) :D
