My mother had an older Marine brother killed in the Solomon Islands in 1942 at age 22. There were seven of them killed in an explosion, they were buried in four coffins in one big grave at Chattanooga. He originally was drafted, but said the Army wasn't good enough for him, so he joined the Marines.
