thanks for sharing your personal moment. did anyone get a picture of YOU?

what is the local paper? link to the story?

Yes, pictures were taken, and a nice write-up. The paper (Hanford Sentinel) is going to give us copies of everything.... If I can figure out how to link them, I'll post them here.. If anyone is interested.

Joe, what a great story. It put a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye to read it. My dad was also a World War II vet. He passed away from cancer in 1991. We didn't have a military funeral but we did have a flag draped casket. After the service, my two sons (aged 14 and 11 at the time) took the flag, folded it precisely, and gave it to my mother. I will forever remember that moment and only regret that it was not videotaped.

Great stories guys. Fortunatly, my Grandfather, who is a Korean war vet, is still here with us, but will someday have a full military funeral. But as I look around the room here at home, there are two flags. One was given to me for serving in Afghanistan, and the other is a flag I had flown in honor of my parents over the command post at Kandahar Army Airfield. God bless all our veterans and let nobody forget the sacrifices they have made.

Wow Joe that is great to hear. Glad you could honor your dad like that. Sure he was watching down on you that day.
