I am new to this forum and was attracked to it because of all the good info.
I have read as a guest. My super duty is a 2002 4wd lariat 7.3 psd. 200K miles
Puchased the truck w/ 168K but have known the truck sinced it was purchased new the truck has never seen any serious mud or pulled more than a 18' boat I can say w/ certinty the truck has had a easy life w/ oil changes @ 5000K mile intervals and lots of TLC. However I am hoping that someone in
here can help me w/ a problem that has recently accured 10am 7-29-12 I am
on the interstate for approx. 20 miles cruise on 65 and the engine died like the
ign. was switch off and would not restart. After checking fuel pump reset, looking @ all fuses, instaling new fuel filter 1hr. has lasped and it cranked. After 20 miles it died again 2 hrs later after tring everything I could I called for a tow. At home online w/ Ford mechanic was told it was cps after purchasing and instaling the cps the truck cranks fine and seems to run well
acually great. So i`m off for a test drive 20 miles from home the engine dies
again. Has anyone had this problem? HELP!!!!!

Does your engine re-start? It's rare but possible you may have gotten a defective replacement cps.

I guess it`s possile to have got a defective cps, but what I forgot to mention was the truck went in to the dealer 8 mounths ago for a factory recall cps replacment.
Before this I have had 0 issues w/ this truck. Thanks for your reply.

Sounds like a Classic CPS failure. They've been known to be bad.. outa the box now & then.
