i was just wondering, and if it's non of my biz, please tell me.

Is your daughter married? of is she not married and that is where the worry is at?

Not married but engaged and just moved in together last month. So ya just moving to fast we think.

So when is it ok to give them Mountain Dew and candy bars??

mountain dew can go in the baby bottle approx 30 min before mom comes to pick up the grand kid (make sure it's flat though they don't like the gas on their stomach)

and the candy bar will have to wait for teeth

its not about age its about maturity, im 20 yrs old and recently got married, my wife is 19 going to college full time and working and im Active duty military and also going to college and her parents had the same resentment towards age, though weve decided to put off kids till later, i plan on being a Firefighter/Paramedic and shes goin to be a Nurse, we all know whos gonna be bringing home the fat pay check, but like i said its all about how mature you are, ive done and seen things in my 2yrs as a Combat medic than most people have 2 and three times my age

From my own opinion, it's not the age. I was 23 and my wife was 19.

I think what maybe bugging jviola (correct me if I am wrong j) is that conception was done outside the marriage bond.

FWIW: We had a talk with our girls years ago. We told them that while we'd prefer that kids wait until marriage, people are human and things sometime happen. We said that if either ever got unexpectedly pregnant, that we (mom & dad) would love our grandchildren with every once of love in our souls and support them emotionally or otherwise to our best ability.

On the other hand, if they were to find themselves pregnant and deliberately terminate that pregancy, to not bother ever showing up at our door again.

My daughter is single, 27 years old, living with her boyfriend and mature enough to make that decision to be an unmarried mom. She is also more of a mom to her boyfriends daughter than the girl's birth mom ever was.

I am very proud of the woman & mother my daughter has grown up to be and prouder beyond words of the grandson she gave me.

Grandkids are great. You get to play with and spoil them, and then give them back to mom & dad when you've had enough for the day. Think of it as payback for all the grief your kids gave you when they were growing up.

PowerSmoker, You have a great head on your shoulders and your wife also, you set your priorities and goals then achieve them and then start a family that you can support. I thank you for your service to our country. I was a firefighter for 12 years, saw many things and i'm sure you will have a great career ahead of you. I may be considered old school on this but yes Bama you are spot on. I know anything can happen Tail Gunner but no precautions were taken and that was a little upsetting to us but like you said they are old enouph to make those decisions. With a little more time I know I will look past this and be one happy grandpa.

You forgot the best part, Robert! By spoiling the grandkids rotten you finally get REVENGE for all of the BS the daughter or son that made you a grandfather put you through during their teen years. Like Tail Gunner said earlier.

My son told me when he was younger that he thought I didn't know jack. Now that he is older and has two kids of his own he says he is positively amazed at how much I have learned in the interim.

It's not that bad. I just had my 6th grand baby come. Everyone is right spoil em and send them home.
