dont know 'bout the connection to tomtom, or how they license
the mapping.

i agree the MAP selling data has been a sore point w/ the older garmins.

the 2720 that i bought for my wife came w/ EVERYTHING (including
the cdrom w/ a FULL UNLOCK code)....and i didnt pay as much for the
2720 as i did for my 3plus.

as Steven says...no one gets the USER INTERFACE BETTER than garmin.

S&T is capable of creating "crumb trails" since at least the 2006 version.

my garmin Ique is fantastic, but they stopped supporting map updates which sux, and i have dropped the baby few times but she always reboots and i download my saved stuff back in , its basically a palm pilot with garmin gps and a bunch of other neat to use stuff
bought it in late 03,
it will update at times when we are dirving, but not near as fast as downloading new maps,

Don't mean to Hijack, but.
Wish this question would of been ask a mo ago. I just bought a Nextar. A cousin has three of them, one in each car and truck, and is very pleased with them so that's why I got one. So far it works fine.

Just printed off that add. Paid $299 with a low price guarante. Will take the add to the store and get a $50 refund..........thanks for the heads up.

Regarding this GPS this thing is so simple to use.....light years ahead of the GPS-V and it talks to ya.

I just bought a garmin c550 for my dad yesterday. bought the tomtom one first and as soon as we got out to the truck we opened it up to test it as i drove to get my transfer tank from northern tool. well as soon as we got on the main highway it told us to turn right with no street name or exit number. i knew to take the 2nd exit but some one using it and not know the area would have no idea, so the whole way there it would say take right or left. which i thought sucked. and on top of it all it didn't even have my home address on it. after i picked up my fuel tank i drove strait back to best buy returned it and bought the garmin for $50 more and man it was sooo much better. the screen was 10x brighter in the sunlight and it gave me street names and exit numbers along with being able to find my home address.

Cabela's just sent me a flyer, inside (p44) is a TomTom for $150 after $100 rebate and $50 discount. Model is 3rd edition with 3.5" touchscreen, home charger, carrying case, preloaded US/Canada maps, USB cable, 2hr lithium battery and 12v charge cable.
