i have snap on, matco, devilbliss, craftsman, kobalt, etc
screwdrivers i have tons of each brand but found the kobalt ones last best, especially when used as a pry bar
go to Pilot Supplies, Avionics, and Homebuilt Aircraft Parts from Aircraft Spruce and Specialty Co.
they have Starter sets of good quality for aircaft techs
get on their mailing lists and ask for the BIG book of "stuff"

Thanks for the tip Robert, I'll go check it out. I've got a tool list from one of the instructors I'll have in August. I've been looking but most of the tool sets I'm seeing have a mix of metric and 6 point & 12 point sockets. The instructor told us "no metric on airplanes" and "virtually no 6 point hardware". So I've been looking for all SAE, 12 point socket sets, not a real common critter.
Yesterday I went back for another look at tool boxes at Lowes & Menards. After digesting what I saw the first time, I went back for a second look. All things considered with construction, slop of drawer mechanisms and price, I think I like the Masterforce at Menards the best.
This combo is on sale and is the smaller of the two candidates. There is a side hang on add-on available too.

But sale price of the 3 pieces is about the same as the bigger 2 piece combo regular price that has more storage space.

So if I bide my time and wait for the bigger one to go on sale, that'll make it an even better deal.

speaking of tools..... with the closing of gm shops I ran across the way to say hi to a snap on truck to see if he would keep a eye out for anyone bailing on a roll away. he did say they buy back their boxes, so I can have credit with them and a great box for cheep!!

if you dont work in a auto repair shop the "franchise" snap on drivers want nothing to do with you. So I looked and I looked and found this box.
Its cheaper than the standard craftsman boxes but better quality than their "professional" series. Great product. They also make a high end model to that I looked at but would not fit in my garage. extreme tool box makes a great box for less than sears!!!!!
