Got weird smoke...

I may have mentioned this before but I've got blue smoke that comes out only when I start moving from a stop. There is a puff of blue and then followed by black smoke. I haven't got any idea what it is from and don't even know if it is a problem or not. I have a feeling it is though. If anyone has any ideas please let me know so I can get it fixed before the warranty runs out.

Check the fuel filters maybe?

Does it do it every time? I'm wondering if you have an injector that's getting tempermental, and it's leaking engine oil before the fuel shot? Do you have a tuner? How much smoke, little puff or significant amount. Might even be a ring? Bad rings generally equate to blue smoke under load. Hard to say... You do any oil analysis?

I'm sending the oil off soon to get an analysis. Maybe that will turn up something. I was thinking an injector might be leaking but was hoping that wasn't it. It does it almost every time and the amount varies with the amount of load. There are a few times where it doesn't smoke at all. Cold, hot, it doesn't seem to care about that. We'll see what the oil analysis says and go from there. I might stop by the International shop in the area and try to talk to one of the mechanics and see what he says. I might pull the fuel filter and see if it is clean. One website said starving the truck for fuel can cause blue and white smoke. I'm doubtful about the filter but I'll try it anyway. Its a start.

I didn't think about it at first, but yeah another possibility is an injector. If it's not making a good spray pattern, that could be part of it.

Mine did this a while back, but it quit when I pulled the tuner and drove it a little while. I ended up putting a milder tune in it and haven't noticed it since. Keep in mind, mine did it when loaded to about 28k GVWR.
