Today, December 31, 2006, I now can walk without the walker or cane. At least for a short distance. My leg muscles need to get stronger, since they were cut.
You young guys are very fortunate due to the new hip and knee replacement materials and techniques, that are here now and the advances that will surely come in a few more years. My hip replacement procedure was approved by the FDA just this last May. It is called hip resurfacing. Lasts 30 years which is much better than the old way which lasts 10-12 years.
I had to postpone the second hip replacement, until next November.
NO PAIN..... I was taking 5-8 tramadol and 9 ibpropen every day for six years for pain before the surgery. Now nothing.
It feels good to be pain free.

Good for you Maxtor!!!:sweet :sweet

I had surgery on my left knee many years ago and had a cast on for about 6 weeks. Then the physical rehab started for several weeks after that.
My wife broke her heel 3 months ago and is just now about 80% back.

So I know how a pain ridden, loss of mobility sucks, even worse a prolonged vs short term loss of mobility.

It's good to hear you're better.:thumbs :thumbs

Thanks
Dave,Powerboatr,Bama, Tail gunner;

I needed to be mobile for 2007, because we are going across the USA on a trip from 5 to 9 months long. Our older truck and 5er might have made the trip, but we might have had troubles, so that is why we bought the new truck and new 5er, because we probably will only make this trip once, and we wanted to do it right without any problems while our health holds out. We could have just stayed in motels, but we wanted to spend some time in National and State parks. Also by camping you get to meet new people along the way.
Thanks again

That is GREAT! Surgery has come a long way. Still makes me VERY thankful to be relatively young, healthy and active.

Good to hear your doing better Maxtor... I'm a disabled Viet Nam Vet (Army1969) I have a left artificial leg, an 8 inch pin with joint in right leg and 6 inch pin in right arm. I got hit with an RPG way back when.... Keep moving don't stop even if it hurts, because the joints will get stiff. I'm pull'in for ya......
Have a happy New Year:wave
