Had a good time in West Texas this weekend. A buddy and I went to the ranch with 200 bobwhite quail with the intent of trying to reseed their population out there. Also took a dozen Chaukers which I regret not getting good pictures of.
We didn't loose a single bird in the 6-1/2 ride out there which was surprising because we had them packed pretty tight. They settled right in and spent several hours dusting before moving off to eat the abundent supply of seeds and bugs.
The greatest danger to their survival will the preditors of which there are many. Bobcats, coyotes, owls and hawks. Seeing the government trapers signs on the gates indicates the rancher that leases the place has him working the property.
