CRJ & ERJ A&P Mech.
My aviation maintenance program is in recess for the summer.
Apparently a few years back the FAA discontinued the requirement for licensed A&P mechanics to know how to weld. As such, that bit of training was eliminated from the program at school. But it just so happens there is a basic welding course being taught during the summer semester. It only runs for the first half of the semester and Mon-Thurs. (Campgrounds & long weekends, here I come.)
I've done some arc/stick welding but it's all been self taught, trial & error, never had any real training. Because of that, some of my welding jobs, while they get the job done, are really, really fugly. So I figured WTH, might as well go for it for personal & professional reasons.
Besides, I'll still be done by 4th of July and have most of the summer off.
Oh, and BTW in case any of y'all are wondering how the aircraft maintenance thing is going, I've pulled down a straight 4.0 GPA for the 1st & 2nd semesters.
