Ok I found some pictures on the net of a Vega engine and we can rule that out. I also found some pictures of Chevy II engines and it appears that Dave is correct :sweet Now if I can figure out what year. Looks like they were offered from 1962 until 1970. Looking at parts online it does appear that the fuel pump is the same though all the years and that is what I need right now. I have a electric one on it now but I don't like it.

Probably. GM and others try to make "family" engines to keep the costs down. Get a Chiltons manual at the library.

Yeah, its a Chevy II. The only good Vega engine was the Cosworth. I had a Cosworth Vega once upon a time and it was fun. The standard Vega engine [sohc] was JUNK. Thats a cool project vehicle, Crumm. Keep us updated on the progress.

Can you believe that some people made a jet boat out of the Chevy II engine? I drove one years ago and what a dawg!! Could barely turn the pump fast enough to get on a plane. No skiers either.

90hp would be a little low to pull a skier especially when you lose about 30% getting to the pump. My 200hp(at the impeller)Optimax does a fine job though :D

Iwould pick a year for your 4 cylinder, as 2968 and go forward. It can't be that hard. The steering box will probable be from an Auto Salvage yard so it just has to look correct. They are all the same ratio in the mid size cars.
