Help Needed glowplugs///// Students need help!!!!!

I found a diesel school were the students will do my glow-plugs and gaskets and wire harness... the problem is that some glowplugs swelled up and broke off.... Can the pieces be FISHED -OUT or should they remove the heads....

The instructor is waiting for me ... I told him I think I have seen on a post somewere here that It can be fished ....

You will need to remove the heads. Can't fish the glow end out.

heads off!

this will be an excellent "real world" learning experience for them. fresh coolant, plugs, gaskets.......the engine will be happy when they are done.

couldnt you fish them out through the manifolds, when each cylinder is at the bottom of the compression stroke

No way can you get a tool/wire/grippers into a valve opening and down about 3.5 inches and grab it. Take the head off!!!

WOW so with all this being said, how often should you change the glow plugs out.
