Did they test out bad, Bama?

It's my understanding that they are under the valve covers as well. Looks like I may have to have my dieseltech take a peek at mine as well. They're not giving me a warm and fuzzy feeling by any means.

Testing will take place today hopefully.

its the 6.0 cutaway motor from the auto show. the injector is in the middle. the thing that is angled with the white insulator to the left is the glow plug. its accessed by removing the valve cover.

who is this diesel tech? and are you SURE he knows what he is talking about?

you can 'test' them by checking their resistance at the UVCH electrical connection. but if you have to change one, you might as well change them all.

the glow plugs can be removed without removing valve cover on the 6.0l`s....

well i'll be! i'm sorry bama.

the pre-04's have a buss bar. in 04, they upgraded the buss bar to a harness. its OUTSIDE the VC. i don;t understand my pictures.

the 04 6.0's have SHORTER glow plugs due to a redesign. and not my much either!

in my second picture, you can see where the VC ends and the buss bar and glow plug live.

yeah, you access the glowplugs from outside the valve cover, early 6.0's have a bus bar, later ones have a harness. You can see the bus bar or harness just above the exhaust manifolds. Some guys remove the inner fender well to get better access.

I went outside and popped the hood and had a look. By golly you guys are correct. I have never had a reason to remove a glow plug so I never looked closely.
