The truck is hard to start. Is there a relay or something before the
glow pluges? Or do I need to just change them all out?

The relay itself is an easy replace and has a low cost. The injectors depending on where you purchase can run ya $70-$100 for a set of 8.

The injectors I'd replace all at once since you'll have the valve covers off anyways.

How old are your batteries?

I think you mean GP not injectors.

and yes there is many things to test before tossing parts at it starting with checking the battery's.:tounge

You can ohm out the GP's and rule out bad or weak plugs (readings over 2 ohms are suspect as bad as are readings of 0 ohms), if they all check out OK then I would jump across the two big terminals on the relay (located under the flip cover just right and in front of the fuel filter) for 30-40 seconds and have someone hit the key. If she fires off then the GPR is shot.

How old are the batteries.

Measure the voltage drop across the glowplug relay's two large terminals while the relay is active. Anything more than a 0.5V drop, the relay is bad. Get a Stancor 586-902 relay if you need a new one. For checking the glowplugs themselves, try this "article". Cheers!
