The AIH is not needed even at 14 degrees. Its job is to reduce idle smoke.

Oh wow OK! For some reason I think I disconnected it and got a check engine light because of it. What can I gain from "deleting it"? Thanks!

Yea its mainly for well below freezing. Like Alaska or Canada areas haha. Well the AIH element is very long and actually restricts some airflow through the intake. Its pretty big so eleminating any airflow restrictions help. I deleted mine because the AIH solenoid stuck on me and would turn the AIH on ALL the time and would drain my batteries in less than 15min. One less thing to worry about. Get the Dodge Cummins oil drain plug from the autoparts store, it screws right into where the AIH goes in the intake. Do some searching on here and the rest of the net, some good write ups on it.
