I have a '99 F250 7.3 with 144000 miles on the truck. When should I consider changing out the glo plugs...anyone have an idea of the cost to do this?

How difficult is it to change out myself (actually, a 24 year old grandson:D )?

Thanks,

JLD

they're not that expensive... dealer actually sent me one when I ordered a glow plug relay a month or so ago... I think it was only about 20 bucks or so... haven't had to change one on my truck yet, but I might... our recent fall weather (30*F) has my truck wanting to fight a little to run & it coughs up a HUGE cloud of white smoke when it does fire... so I might...

changing them out at this time is more like preventative maintenance. iirc, older ones are more delicate and can break off. you end up with a chunk of it in the cylinder that you ahve to fish out. doable, but a pain in the arse.

difficulty- how mechanically inclined is he?
the wiki page on 94-97's should cover it.
