The story here is I ordered a gen. from cabelas the first one came looked alright until I got it out of the box. It was trashed look like it was rolled out of the back of a truck. Sent it back to cabelas they sent another, samething trashed. They would not even pay to have it fixed. I need to find a gen. that wont break the bank, any Ideas???

What are you going to use it for? I'd bet your local Honda powersports dealer carries them, and they are top-drawer units.

northern tool and equip(used to be northern hydraulic) has a great selection of generators and in my experience have always been the best priced when looking for anything with a smalll engine attatched. If you don't have one near you they do mail order as well. (very decent shipping) They have honda and the usual big names as well as their own brand, they even have small DIESEL ones! pretty BA....Florida Northern Tool + Equipment Store Locations

For my RV. Honda would be nice but the $$$$ for is not. Looked at northern tool and I could not find one with a 30 amp set up that would not break the bank. I'm trying to stay on the cheeper side becaose there been some RV's that had there gens. boosted off the riges in the area lately.

What size are you looking for? Preferred fuel type?

I've been seeing steals of deals on generators lately on my local craigslist.

I have seen the smaller gas troy built ones in the 3-6kw range that are New In Box for around 5-600. there are 4 - 10kw diesel's on Government Surplus Auctions at Government Liquidation that are at Eglin ending today, they come mounted on m116 trailers indicating very little use.

Edit: took way too much time to type that response, I do remember seeing an onan RV genset on my local CL that was a takeout. Are you looking for 30A 110 or 220?

Any price range you're trying for other than ACAP (As Cheap As Possible

given what you're looking for you should be able to hit under $400 and possibly even lower for a 3500 watt generator, what kind of starting loads are you looking at? The other factor is if the generator is wired and capable of pulling a single 30 amp 110V may be a bit more difficult.

Watts = amps X Volts

5000 Watt - Electric Generator - Coleman Powermate - $350 (Palm Harbor, Florida)
NEW Blackmax 5500 watt Generator - $400 (Seffner/East Tampa)

I have a 5000 Watt, Electric Generator, Coleman Powermate, but it's does not have the amps. I has a 110 plug 40 amps 20 top and 20 bottem and a twist plug thats 20 amps. I need it to run the A/C witch is 30 amp men.

ACAP because I'll blow a head gasget if a pricey one it gets jacked. I played with getting a honda 2000 or 3000 and putting a lowjack on it, but the cost keep me from doing it.
