I have a 03 F250 7.3L with 85K on it. Just had a transmission temp gauge, EGT gauge and boost gauge put in. Does anyone have any idea what temps I should be concerned about on these? All gauges are from autometer.

I normally tow a toy hauler that weighs around 11,700 lbs. I have seen my transmission temp get up to almost 230 (never higher) before the dumby gauge on the dash starts to move at all. the boost is usually between 12-19 and the EGT has never gotten over 13.

W/o a trailer your trans. should be 120-150 and w/ a trailer at the most 180. You need to check your connections on the gauge. I had the same problem because my ground loosened on the back of the gauge. At 250 degrees your trans. would pop. Your other two gauges sound normal for a stock engine.

Thanks for the info Treyloco. Was it hard to get to the back of your gauges to check the connections? Mine are mounted on the pillar. Have you noticed what temp your dumby gauge on the dash starts to move?

My dash gauge is usually reading opp temp while my autometer is reading 100*. On your pod if your gauges are not clamped on the back you can just grasp them and slowly twist them back and fourth and they usually come right out. Where do you have your trans probe?

THe trans probe I believe is in the middle on the bottom of the after market trans pan I have on the truck.

I had a friend use a laser temp gauge and the gauge is 30 degrees off at two different temps. Going to check the gauge this week. If I get the chance.
