How hard is it to convert a Gas 5.4 Triton to Diesel? I have owned my 1999 F-250 since new and have racked up 235,000 + miles on her without much of a whimper. But have come into ownership of a 2000 Diesel Powertrain. With all wire harness and everything to convert my tired 5.4 Triton. What do you all think about the pros and cons on such a task?:dunno

I assume you mean to transplant a 7.3L PSD into your 99 F-250 and not convert your 5.4L into a diesel?

For the transplant you are going to need the whole truck the 7.3L came out of so you can scavange all the electronic sensors that the PSD relys on. Its a big job, but it can be done.

will it even FIT ? can the stock 150 suspension carry that much
weight ?

remember when they came out w/ the new body style 150 (not the
current one)...they couldnt use that body/frame for the 7.3 or 6.0 d
motors...cause it just wouldnt FIT.

OB NJ, land of traffic, stop lights, stop signs, a
its a 250... and thats a good point different front springs.... best be get a set of level springs from summit made for diesels! and expect that truck to be outta commession for a while.... personally if i was you id keep the 250 that way... got get me a older pick up (1975 - 97) w/ 3/4 ton or 1 ton [maybe even a bronco]and make this a project of that sort. and keep my 250 with the gasser.....

Well seeing as you have many friends unless you put an entire bottle of shampoo in one of your squad members boots. a keg outta do the trick, be the end of the weekend you should be able to perform open heart surgery... I too would suggest going to a later model truck build it up and stick in a 7.3 or a inline 6 Cummins. Depends on your preference. for the most part make sure you have all the parts you will need before you even turn one wrench on your current truck, or else it will take much longer then you can imagine.

Are you home or are you still downrange?

Gasser to PSD CONVERT....

I own a FORD SD F-250, 4X4 CREW CAB SB. It has a 6" lift from Skyjacker. Nice truck just money to spend on a new 5.4 seems like I can spend that dough on the conversion of my little Dragon into a Killer Dragon. Thanks for the reply's. :dunno

Here are few pics of my Truck while training in Co. Went mountian Climbing,(not really) Ran over a Tuner trash can trying to run me off the road one late night, ( actually drove off road trying to mess with me) I guess the Halloween Decor Scared the **** out of him, He He, outside of Ft. Benning. Hope you all enjoy.
