Well,

Since you've seen my new tires you can imagine how I feel about the low front end. So, I have been researching online about a levelling kit for my truck. I read at one of the manufacturers websites that because I have the factory Rancho lift package, I would not need longer shocks.

I want to bring up the front end, and am not able to find any definitive information wrt the FX4 setup.

Any comments are much appreciated.

The fx4 is just painted stock shocks with rancho stickers and some skid plates. Up to 2" front lift you should be ok with stock shocks. Personaly I would just replace them anyway you will notice a better ride with a good set of bilstins.

Thanks for the input Buff

Does anyone out there have a preferred levelling Kit????

And Buff,

Why Bilsteins? I was looking at the Donahoe Racing Levelling kit that comes with new shocks and springs and caster shims. What is the model number on the bilsteins? I want to get the correct size.

Thanks Much:notworthy

Donahoe is good stuff but big bucks if you have the money go for it. I bought my stuff from Top Gun customes thay should be able to take care of you. I dont know what any of the vendors here carry but you could check them to.

hammer- you have an F350. Which means you need 2.5" of lift upfront to sit pefectly level. You can obtain that by spacers, or new Springs. I agree that the stock shocks give a crappy ride. Bilstiens would be a nice shock; anything that is nitrogen gas charged and "smart" will do well. However when you lift the front you lose caster and the Axle is not centered under the truck. I had a 2.5" kit on my truck and it pulled the axle over quite a bit. There are some manufactures, have to hunt the #'s down, that make a 2-3" Track bar bracket which will correct that. As for the caster shims donahoe is offering... they go in the knuckle of the axle. NOT a good way to fix caster! b/c you'll bind up the shafts. Rancho Makes new radius arms designed for a 2.5" level kit with caster correction built into them.

Hope that enlightens you.

When I did my 2 1/2" spacers I didnt need anything not even an alignment. I did do the bilstien shocks and it was an improvement.

i am throwing in my :2c

now i was told by different folks, a combination of the above.

1. a 2" is level
2. stock shock will be fine
3. @ 3" you'll need new shocks/trac bar adjuster
4. no mention of twisting axle
5. no alignment needed

with that said, and the above mention and what i have been told in the past i am thoroughly confused on the direction i want to go and the $$ i want to spend.:dunno

don't beat me up, but i was gonna just do this...
what adverse effect(s) will it have. can't see any as they say it is a good seller..:dunno

Im also concerned about my 06 fx "nosedive" position .

Especially with the 1200# blade I intend to hang on it.

Was quoted 300 (front only ) with new stabilizer w/o shocks . I had leafs all around on my 99 250 gasser and added 2 ea. up front , all was well.

Not a big fan of coils here.
