A kid, in a 1974 RAT Dodge 4X4 bumped us from the back the other day:rant

Talk'n on a Cell Phone.. said he didn't see us Stopped for a Red Light :rant He admitted that to the CHP... so no issues there. He got a ticket for using his Cell Phone while driving...PLUS... that it caused Property Damage. CHP said BIG Bucks for the combined charges.

A Quarter size "Ding" in the Trunk lid, Cracked edge on the R/R Tail Light= $1957.62 for repairs..:eek:

Shop sez: They don't do Body work.. They [Replace] everything... which
is Okay with me. NEW Tail Light, Complete NEW Trunk lid, down too, and including.. the SE & Fusion emblems, 3rd brake light and Licence plate light (which weren't damaged at all). It's on his Dime,,,But JEEEEZE !

Hope he learned a Cell Phone lesson. :dunno Prolly not.

I got hit from behind, a year ago and CSAA does not fix anything these days. Body shops are R&R places (Remove & Replace). Then they paint it the wrong color.

I hear ya Dave & Robert...

I've known the Body Shop owner since he wuz 5 years old.. Took the business over from his Dad. Known for good work, does Custom Paint, 4x4 lifts & frame work and the like... so I'm good with all that.

It's just the PIA of our 6 month old car.. take'n a (albeit small) Hit.

Oh Well.. Car's in the shop.. we're up here at Bass Lake for a week, kick'n back, @ 3500'.. 'bout 75* out, sit'n in the shade of a Pine tree.. Cold Beer.. watch'n Becky, the Killer/Attack Pom'.. Hassle the Squirrels.. Bob, the Cat, on his leash.. can't be bothered with that... Too much Effort.

Wife's read'n a Book

Life Is Good ;tu

New vehicles seem to be magnets for damage. I already got a small mark on the RH front corner of the bumper extension on the 450 from pushing against a state park barrier post:rolleyes:

Sure is a lot of $$ for a little dent, I feel for ya Joe...

Sorry about the Fusion Joe! More and more expensive to fix a car nowadays! My mom backed into a Ford Flat bed in our driveway in her 05 Lincoln LS and OMG did tons of damage! Left rear corner was screwed. Even messed up the inside of the trunk frame and got the trunk lid. $5400 later it was fixed.

Speaking of not "bending anything in years & years", my dad's first car, a 1951 Ford is still sitting behind my mom's house in Louisiana, in the same spot for the last 45 years. Until a year or so ago, the only dent was a quarter size spot in the left front fender where he slid into a ditch many years ago on a local one and a half lane road during a hard rain. Awhile back, the tree that it sits under lost a limb that came down on the left front fender behind the headlight. Guess that's not too bad a record for a 60 year old car. The reason it's still sitting there is because on the day he bought the car, he picked up my mom for their first date. Drove it 14 years until the floorboard got so rusted it was unsafe to drive. A few years ago, the gearshift (3 speed) still worked really well.

Then I accidentally let my F-150 roll up under the 5th wheel a coupe of months back and crushed the driver's side of the windshield, plus put a dent and some scratches on the hood. Over $4000 in damages, but it's going again now.

I got one for you. How about nearly $4,000 in damage due to hail. Look at my gallery photos. The hail even busted two places in my windshield. Broke cab lights, vent visors and bug shield, turn signal and cracked a tail light. My hood had a dimpled surface similar to a golf ball.

Sounds like you need to get that old Ford goin! I'd love to have an early 50's Ford.
