Fumes in cabin

In October we purchased a 2003 SD with 69k miles on it. Within 10 days it went into the shop for a bad injector sensor. We told them to just go through the engine while they had it, and they came up with an EGR code. For the first week out of the shop everything seemed to be operating fine.

Since that time, a drip has developed leaving a small spot on the driveway under the front of the engine every morning, and the fumes that develop in the cabin while driving have become almost too overwhelming to drive it.

Has anyone experienced this also, and if so, what did Ford do about it if anything?

Whats leaking? oil / A/F / trans fluid? If your getting exhaust fumes its probably a cracked Y pipe. Need more info.

they may have broken the "Y" up-pipe which would allow
fumes into the cabin...you can use a smoke stick or cigar/cigarette
to try and find the leak.

Husband says it smells like diesel. We've been so busy we haven't had much time to talk about it. He says it's going back to the shop today.

Is the Y pipe something Ford would cover in their 100k mile warranty? If not, how difficult is it for the better-than-average backyard mechanic?

dont know quite honestly...if it was fine BEFORE you took it in then
they SHOULD cover it either way.

there were TSB's on the up/flex pipe...yours wouldnt be the 1st to
have leaked thats for sure !
