fuel system question

I have a f-350 w/7.3 1999. Does the fuel system have a fuel pump after the inline electric fuel pump? Or does the electric pump maintain the fuel pressure using the releaf valve on the fuel return line? I was told that the fuel psi should be 45+-psi. I'll be be online all day to reply to questions.

just the one pump on the frame rails
45 psi is factory rec.
most run between 65 and 70 with a few shims(washers) added to the fuel filter regulator. the fuel filter is were the psi is regulated its at the filter housing where the return line conects. if you remove or lossen that line. be very careful it will cross thread very easy and its a soft pot metal like material.
I have never done the stock regulator shimming with washers but it can be done relativley easy. i prefered the external regulator bypass.
higher psi will make her idle a bit smoother gain some at higher rpms or under high fuel demand periods
bill or bryan may chime in about the washers and instructions, also look in the WIKI for instructions.

Thanks, the reason I ask is that I'm going to hookup another fuel system from the spare tank to the fuel line leaving the filter housing w/check valves.
This system with be regulated at 70psi yes with filter, regulator, pump, bypass loop and heat exchanger for thats right, veg oil. Using the spare system the other will go into bypass back to its tank.

If you see what is going on with Iran and if they take there oil off the world market, all of us will see prices go though the roof. People think paying $2.59 is bad. I know its cheap here in New Jersey it could very bad.

95 stroker, My water in fuel light came on when I put the chip in. It goes off if I take it out. Does the chip inhancing coductivity telling the computer that their is water. Also, what does the little wire do? I've read that it's a fuel heater? Is that true? If so than, Why? Why can I do about this? Thanks

No, the chip shouldnt have made your WIF sensor more sensitive? If you can clearly reproduce the fault by taking the chip out and WIF light goes off and then comes back on when the chip is reinstalled I would give BullyDog a call and ask them.

There is a wire about halfways up the fuel filter cannister that does go to the fuel heater. Is yours hooked up or is it unhooked? If it is unhooked then I would bet the previous owner had issues with the heater and just unhooked it. Irregardless, the heater probably isnt related to this other porblem.

I did talk to their tech. support and thats what they suggested. But, then it did seem that he was only guessing at that. It smelled like BS.
What is the fuel heaters purpose? Is it for the cold weather to stop gelling and freezing if there is water?
