my fuel gage gets stuck on half a tank after refueling. i disconnect the batteries and then reconnect and it will go to full. some times it will go to empty then back up to full. the cost of a new sending unit goes between $600 and ford wants $800 , that is just not right. Does anyone know where i can just get a fuel rheostat ? i been checking on line to see if someone figured out how to get one to work in thes tucks?

eBay.com?
ya they still want $600 for the hole unit. i did the filter delete in the tank when i bought the truck brand new( made a big difference in quieting down the crackle noise from the air recycling )) all i need is the rheostat its just 2 screws and a plug .definitely not worth $600. i know every super duty will run into this problem sooner or later. Can't see why it so much money when i bought fuel sending units with the fuel pump attached to it for other trucks like a delphi for $250

not yet but i will do that as soon as i get down on fuel so i don't struggle with the tank
There's a few others that rot right off that you can check or replace without doing anything to the tank. Not sure if it'll help or not but the bad grounding issues in these trucks cause all sorts of wacky issues.

Correct, the other ground straps on the truck. There's one under the passengers side between the body and frame that rots off with time as well as a host of others that become suspect with age. All can cause strange issues with the electrical components on our trucks.

it's definitely the rheostat.. tested it back to finding a new rheostat . did some research and alot of discussion on the rheostat problem but no one know's the fix to find the replace just for the rheostat this truck looks and drives like it came off the show room floor 110,000 miles never seen winters and never seen salt roads . oil changes every 5.000 miles trans flush the manual way every 25,000 miles. interior like brand new .
