If you go with a permanently mounted gauge do not mount it like THIS It needs to have some fuel line between the gauge and the regulator to absorb the pulses from the pump or it will self destruct. By the time I drove to and from work (46 miles) mine was DOA when I got home.

Yeah, now that you mention it I remember our conversation about it when I came by your place. That's the exact same reason there's fuel injection hose (Viton® fluoroelastomer) between the fuel pump, fuel bowl and connecting steel lines.

So it's Monday morning and I go to a hydraulic shop and get the proper oring for the connection of the FPR & fuel bowl. A Viton -015 cost me $.35 . Last month they put in the wrong size and it got mashed. He calls me that he's at my house but can't find the tiny spring that's behind the oring (Not the FPR spring). So I get home and he's still there. My driveway is gravel so we are on our hands and knees with bar magnets looking for the spring. No luck. So now he's driving 30 miles away to a salvage yard looking for one.

UNBELIEVABLE! :rant I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.

If you produce it I'll write the script. Just gotta figger out who'll play me. :roflmao He's gotta own an OBS and not be a mechanic. Any SDD members come to mind? :dunno

At this point everything else that happens does not get me more upset. It's just comical. Like I said...I couldn't make this suff up if I tried. Hope you find this good reading. :thumbs

Instead of the extension for the fuel bowl, just use a crow foot wrench. Worked for me. Great saga to read too. Glad I'm not the only one with that type of luck !

He had no luck at the salvage yard so he called a buddy of his who owns a diesel injection shop with the hope that he'd have an old OBS FPR that he could cannibalize a spring from. No luck. Funny thing. I called three Ford dealerships looking for the repair kit and all three said it did not exist. :rant They all wanted to sell me a new complete FPR housing for $313! :rant  So I found the FPR repair kit P/N from JOAT's parts page (F6TZ-9150-AA) and he's ordering it.

So did I. He just called and said there is no spring behind the o-ring, plastic doo-hickey and in front of the yellow ball so yesterday looking for the IMAGINARY spring in my dusty gravel driveway was his error. I'll say! :tongue2 So he'll try to get by here later today and put it back together. He added that if my cam shaft was worn the pump wouldn't work properly. :rant Gosh he's a funny guy. :roflmao
