Last few days my pump has been makeing alot more noise than usual. It sounds like it is running rough and has a squeal every once in awhile that happens more when cold than after it has been run. I changed out the fuel filters tonight after work and the cap on the large frame mounted filter had some metal fileings in it. About enough to cover a finger tip. Never had anything in there before so I'm thinking this isn't good. Pump seems to run alot longer now too before it shuts off. Still have the no start when hot thing going on yet that the dealer hasn't figured out. Was in the shop last week and is going back tommorrow again. Anybody ever have a pump go out? Dealer said they haven't had to replace one yet but I don't trust much of what they say. I only had 10k on filters and they looked clean.

Fuel Pump

I have never seen metal filings in the filter but sounds like like pump is going to me. Flow is a big factor if you have a gauge handy or installed. I have changed a few junk ones and the only thing close to your situation was an International CF500 with a VT275, the baby brother of the 6.0L. i had low power issues and it ended up being the pump, filter was ok though, I would get that fixed soon before a piece of that metal gets into an injector and then,$$. Good luck.

How much does a pump cost?
I've seen new in the box offers from E-Bay for $199.99. If you've ever considered a fuel preperator system (like an AirDogII), and you have the extra bucks; now would be a good time. It precludes the need for stock pump as I understand it. I'll be looking into it when my pump starts to punk out. Good luck.

Dropped it off a dealer to check fuel pressure and no start issue. There's an air dog in my shop right now but its for the kids Dodge. Think he'd miss it? Might look into one if my pump is bad. Hope my truck didn't see me driving off in a loner Fusion, might think I finally got mad enough and traded.

There's the AirDog, and the AirDogII. It's the AirDogII that has the adjustable fuel pressure pump(the kind!), and is a specific model for our 6.hos :sweet

Stopped by the dealer today and my truck is sitting outside. Went to talk to the mechanic and finally it died. He took it out for a test drive with the scan tool hooked up and had to get towed in. Won't start and only has 80psi pressure at HPOP. They replaced some sensors but no go. Now they are going to tear it down and start to replace things that I thought they should of been doing last year when I started having issues with hot no starts. Worst thing is it might be up to 3 weeks before I get it back cuz they are so booked up. Glad I have the 200k extended warranty. Don't know whats up with the fuel pump yet.
