Joe,

The isolator has a sticker on it indicating "Gauge Side" and it is the side without the Screw. According to the install directions, the isolator is held screw side up and then that screw is supposed to be loosened and the fuel pump cycled until fuel starts coming out and then retighten it.

I pulled the isolator and the popped the screw from the fuel side and pushed the diaphram to get the coolant right up to the gauge. The wife then tightened the fitting. I then took off the gauge fitting with the line full and topped off the gauge side which wasn't very empty, I got only a few mL's of coolant back in. I then bled the fuel side again to get all the air out. Still only seeing 20 psi, and when I go WOT it goes down to about 7psi. I guess next step is to hook a known good gauge to the port off the bowl and see what it reads. Maybe I do have a bad pump?

Bill

Could very well be a bad pump ? As you said: from the filter bowl.. see what you get for psi ?

I went out and rechecked my connections (been a long time)... Mine sez GAUGE (with an arrow), near the screw, pointed to the threaded connection port :dunno. Different brand prolly.

Joe

Keep us posted ??

I'll vote for a bad pump.

That is what my gauge was doing when I first put it in. I had about 30 psi running down the highway and as soon as I floored it, pressure dropped down to about 10 or less.

I popped for a new pump and pressure went way up and no longer dropped off when I stepped on it.

I was rather unhappy about the cost of the new pump. So I decided to protect my investment and put a fuel filter/ water separator upstream of the pump. As it is, there is only a screen protecting your pump from crud in the tank.

Thanks Joe. I was not following the message closely enough. I use an electric gauge and don't mess with any fluids. I got it now.
