They were in town again. The Department Of Revenue had the intersections coming into town today covered by guys with clear hoses to check for red fuel. I don't know if anyone got nailed and its hard to find out as nothing ever gets put in the paper when they get caught. It must be the third time this year. Watch out if your traveling up north!!!!

Probably won't be long before they're down here, too. Isn't greed a wonderful thing? I know of four area stations that didn't have diesel that have put in tanks and are now advertising "off road/farm" fuel. And there always seems to be a pickup at their pumps.

The fact that 87 gas prices have dropped 60+ cents per gallon over the past week, and the price differential between it and diesel is now 70+ cents instead of a dime, isn't gonna help matters much.

thats interesting, last saturday in dothan alabama, we stopped at a little champ type gas station, as i am filling up my wifes car i look at teh diesel pump.
its green handled and say OFF road only, federal yad yada to put it in your onraod of 2007 truck, may contain higher than 500ppm of sulphur, this is on a normal fuel pump, i woul dhave never know it was off road if i hadnt been bored and decided to read the little label.
so i look around to find the one pump of taxed fuel.......
yep only one, the three others were off road.
so what are the odds a bunch of folks are filling up on off road fuel ??????
and at 230 a gallon vs 279 ???

I have never seen them checking tanks here or in Nevada. Even though my fuel is legal I would not stop nicely for them. I do not think it is acceptable for them to waste my time without probable cause and my having a deisel does not constitute probable cause.

The constabulary can stop you and your vehicle at any time under the guise of a "safety" or "DUI" checkpoint. Part of an inspection can mean dipping your tank to detect off-road fuel. In Florida they like to occasionally stop ALL pickups, vans, and rental trucks at weigh stations for that reason.

Ever watched the reality police shows where the officer asks for consent to search the vehicle? Watch what happens when the driver refuses. The officer just calls in his fellow officer with the K-9 . You do not have the same rights against search and seizure in your vehicle that you do with your home, so say the courts. Just like the issuance of a driver license to you implies your consent to roadside DUI testing. Refuse, you get your license suspended or revoked.
