Fuel line on tank - removal

After a lot of fiddling, I'm getting into my aux fuel install (Kent's old tank is Rich's new tank!!). I have the original fuel tank down but cannot disconnect the two rubber fuel lines that are on the tank.

Shall I just cut 'em off as close to the metal as possible, and replace with worm gear clamps and be done with it?

Never mind, I cut 'em off at the connectors. But I cannot get these connectors off the stainless lines...got the cheesy plastic tool, but doesn't seem to ever engage the springs. I don't want to cut the stainless lines...can I use a hack saw on the plastic body of the connector? ? ?

Suggestions appreciated.

IIRC, when I did my "Hutch" mod and dropped the tank, I just used my pneumatic cutoff wheel and carefully cut the plastic connectors until they were weak enough where I could just crack and split them in half with an expanding split ring pliers. I just used rubber fuel line on the fittings with worm gear hose clamps when I put the tank back up.

on edit: I bet a Dremel tool would work too.

Thanks guys. I used a sharp pair of dikes to snip them off. Now i'm surprised to find that flex hose isn't what I expected -- it seems to have a liner so they are too small and won't slip back over the stainless lines. Am i missing something obvious maybe?

Tryin' to figure out how to pull the hard lines loose on the frame rail enough so I can cut the other flex line ends off...those connectors that hold the lines nicely against the frame have me bum-fuzzled...I bought enough 3/8 to go to the pump but the return line is a booger.

Good afternoon, i'am a newbe onsite. i have an 99 7.3 f250, with 394,699 and it still purrrr down the road, i'am in "TUSK" now on lunch break. i seen this morning during fill up, [i guess my overflow hose is bad i kinda left on the pavement], being that i'am in west texas on the job, my repairs are and few apart, is this ok to travel, and is it i keep an eye on it,,Oh my fuel guage died 6months ago, so i calc my mileage plus i have a drag-up tank.
