I had the same problem getting my OEM plug out. Ended up using a torx wrench and hammering it in...along with a liberal dose of penetrating oil. I replaced it with the newer style, and love the ease of use.

Ditto Sattwood.

WIF light ealier this week. Drain - pressurize - drain - pressurize. No more light - all if good.:sweet

I just took my truck in for the 30K service- I had just purchased and received the drain plug that is referenced to- I gave to the service tech and told him while they had it on the rack and had to drain for the filter replacement to install the new drain(yea I know should have done it myself)- well at the end of the day-I pick up the truck - dealer told me the insert end was too long and he couldn't install- I haven't had a chance to call the manufacture- the plug makes sense, yet if doesn't fit. Possible dealer BS. I know major trama

Probably because he didn't know to thread the end of the stem into the inner threaded area - as designed. DO NOT cut this stem off - it WILL go in.

Old plug: Allen wrench plus JB weld plus one day to set, should work.

Good luck.

thread the long stem in, its designed to hang free enough to allow fuel to drain out without th eplug dropping and rooling off to oblivion when you have to drain it at night along some dark highway, IT WILL happen

Does anybody know what the thread is in the HFCM? I've only had my plug out once, never had any water. I was looking at making a different setup with some pipe. I just don't know if it's 3/8-16 or 1/4 NPT or what ever. It's a bit of a pain to just drop the plug and measure it, ya know? Any ideas?
