What is ULSD? I guess it is a diesel fuel additive. I use Stanadyne in my vehicle every other couple of fill ups. Any opinions about that one? Sounds like the chevron diesel additive is the way to go. Is that any good and where would I be able to buy some?

my low fuel light pops at 80 miles plus r minus, but i have driven many mre miles than that befire filing up, think of it as a little grandma type warning, hey sonny your getting low on fuel,

i have only gotton my 29 gal. tank to fill completely up twice in the 2.5 years i have had my truck.

a couple of weeks ago it started sputterin on me showing 26 miles to empty. wound up coasting a mile to a local kangaroos and just did make it to the pump.

hard to steer a 4 ton p/u that has shut off on ya. my 8yo son thought we were actually going to die because of the trouble steering and had to cross into the other side of the road to make it to the station. fortunetly no traffic was coming at the time. bless his heart, it really scared him

i don't have a lie-o-meter but awhile back i filled up at a station that was low on fuel, it took 28 minutes to fill up my 29 gal. tank. i usually fill up w/in hours of the fuel lite goin off. my ave. fill up is usually 24-26 gallons. but not this time. since the pump was running super duper slow it clicked off with 30.6 gallons in it. i did the old double take. it has never happened since. and i have no clue, just an idea, that since it was going so slow it filled up every possible space w/ fuel...

diesel fuel aerates and makes a "head" or foam as you fill up. This head trips off the pump even though your tank is not full. I have put 33 gallons in my 29 gallon shortbed tank because I took the time to trickle in the fuel after it tripped off. Granted I filled it up to the neck with fuel, not fuel bubbles. The fact that it took so long to fill is why you got so much more fuel in, there was no "head".

thats the same thing i have always thought, just didn't know how to say it.

i know that when i have filled up on the pumps that 18wheelers use, it creates a thinker foam and trips the nozel faster. on the regular car pumps, its fills up more.

Ultra-Low Sulphur Diesel - the new stuff with fewer than 50 ppm sulphur.

I harpoon'd mine when i was in virginia...I fill all the time w/ fuel (not foam)
the last gallon maybe 2 takes a while...but its faster than it was (before

yeah, i totally understand that and know that but until i just read it it never crossed my mind as to what was going on. at the time i thought something was amiss. and since reading some posts the other day, never put a thought to it either, that i should fill that sucker til she drips on the ground cuz i tacked on a little more than usual the other day and my 1/4 tank miles was shocking...my blonde/grey hair sometimes gets in the way of my thinking.

I fill mine till I see it in the neck. What's interesting about this is you can see the fuel color. I just got fuel last night from Pacific Pride, and it was clear white. Never saw that before. I've seen a yellowish tint, and blue green, but never clear, white.
