with that being said, wouldnt a higher concentration in the winter bring the btu value up since the value is lower in the fuel to start with? such that in the summer you run a lower concentration and then bump it up again in the winter.

i'm no chemist, but the optimum ratios of 200:1-100:1 of the 2cycle for lube are not going to offset the 10% difference in energy content between winter and summer blends. i don;t think you can add enough 2 cycle oil to bring it up that 10%.
i do know that TOO much 2cycle will cause other problems.

Thats why I run it Thin.. if anything.

Very, Very seldom, is More, of anything.... Better.

When we were on our Road Trip last year.. I think I got the mix a little Rich. Smoke, Soot on the "Hip"... seemed a little Wimpy... thinned it out.. Ran Great again.

I'm not after the BTU's, so much. Restoring some Lubrication back into the ULSC #2 diesel, for Engine life.. especially for the Older Engines, is my goal.

If there's some Thermal Energy that comes with that ? Good deal.

Diesel Fuel Additive - SoyClean: Safe, Non-toxic, Natural, Bio-based Products

Been using this product for the last 3 yrs. With nothing but stellar results.
12oz--per 25-30gal.

Never noticed a MPG increase, but did notice quieter injectors and smoother idle. Over time-->10-20 tanks of diesel, I did start to notice better throttle response. Mind you my 7.3L had 260K miles on her,before I started using SoyPower. The next 2 fuel filter changes showed just how dirty my fuel system was... Now... I feel good-->Keeping my fuel system clean and lubricated and supporting our local soybean farmers.

Here is another soy based diesel additive that also will do a super job cleaning and lubricating your injectors and fuel system... You can find it at most major truck stops... A bit more expensive then soypower, but it will for sure take care of your fuel system...

Here's my problem, the other day I was driving my diesel Excursion and noticed I was at about 3/4 of a tank. Plus I always keep track of my mileage every fill up. Well I got to where I was going and then on my way home I noticed the gauge said full. Well I put close to 300 miles on it in the pas week or so and it is still saying full. I'm guessing it is the sending unit. I am going to fill the truck up this morning maybe it is stuck. I don't know how they work but I hope it's not hard to change.

However, after reading this whole thread and not even knowing about using an oil additive to the fuel would increase performance on some level and keep my fuel system clean, I'm gonna start using it! I have 116k miles on my PSD X and I hope to get many more mile out of her! I still have to fix my fuel sending unit tho.

Do I need to? The last fill up I did I didn't have the Super Tech and the truck sounded and acted no different.

Since I fill with B5 have I just been wasting money and oil by adding it?

my personal opinion would be, yes it is a waste of money. the B5 is pretty badass on its own says the chart. other than cost you certainly arent hurting anything!

I bought a case of Stanadyne Performance Formula when I bought my 2000 F350 7.3 Powerstroke a couple of years ago, and have been using it ever since in both my truck and my old 1977 JD 2130 tractor. The case is almost used up, and I'm wondering if I should get some more or switch to the 2 cycle oil. Both the truck and tractor may sit unused for a month or more at a time. And since I put so few miles on the truck, I don't guess the cost difference is all that big a factor for me.

to Dan.. any level bio-diesel restores the lubricity lost to ULSD. You wouldn't need the two-stroke..

to Charlie.. I'd say stick with the Stanadyne, as it has an algaecide in it as well.
