I'm ready to replace the factory rubber on my '04 F250 and plan on going with the Toyo Open Country in a 285/75-18. They end up being just shy of 35" according to what I've read. You've heard my delima a thousand times but I need some advice... I would go with a full suspension kit but I'm not sure if the tires will look right with 4-6" of lift. I would like to level the truck and do it right with a set of springs in the front but that costs just about as much as a full kit. The other issue I want to correct is the rear dragging all over the place when I'm towing therefore, as another option, I was thinking about the rear bags and a leveling kit. Would a full 4-6" suspension kit give me added capacity to tow with no sagging rear? Would I be better off sticking with the bags to use as needed given the smaller tires and go with a quality leveling kit, track bar and shocks etc? I'm not shooting for the huge lift and big rubber as much as I'm leaning toward a good looking practical alternative. I must be getting old... Man this was so simple 20 years ago with the 1980 Chevy Stepside! Any input would be appreciated!!

No. A high quality lift kit may even lower your capacity as they design the spring rates to improve ride which in turn causes the springs to sag with less weight than the stock springs. You are on the right track with a leveling kit and air bags. I have been running air bags for over 10 years and the adjustably is unmatched by any overload spring out there. When empty you can air-down and when loaded you can air-up.

My 05 has the front leveling kit, although all i needed was the pucks, no springs. I have the airbags in the rear. There is no substitute for bags thay are just that good. I can take a load which used to my truck look sick in fact I would actually get sick and just put more air in the bags and actually acheive a rake. They take all the sponge that I HATE out. I know all lot of people that do not have bags talk bad about them. But for the people that have them they usually say they will never own another truck even If I do not tow with out them. My bags I bought used. They were initally purchased in 2000. He had them on his tuck till the week before he sold them to me. They still work like a charm. Knock on wood. Best $45 I have ever spent.
