I am posting for a friend who has an 00' PSD that is having some tranny cooling problems. We noticed this on Sunday coming home. He was pulling his trailer and I was behind him with mine. We stopped becasue of another more serious tranny problem but that is not why I am here. We want to make sure his tranny does not fail like the other one did. I think we already have a good tranny cooler picked out. He wants to add a temp gauge as well, on the A-pillar. He tows heavy very often. Do the Ford trannies have an elecrical connection for an electric gauge or would a mechanical gauge be better? Any kits out there for a one stop purchase or buy individually? Any help is appreciated.

On the 4r100 tranny there is a test port just on the drivers side, just in front of where the selector cable attaches to the tranny. It is a 10mm bolt, just above the lip the pan bolts to. The tranny guage will come with a sensor that is the same size. Its very easy to install one.

The best cooler to get is one from a 6.0 liter Ford. No more overheating issues.

i am working on a wiki for 6.0 cooler upgrade from my '00.
hoping to finish it by the weekend.

the 6.0 cooler is THREE times as big as the 00 one! perfect drop in mounting. a couple of hose adapters and some clamps and you are good to go.

Thanks guys for the response.
I suppose the 6.0 cooler costs an arm and a leg? Someone on another site recommended the TruCool cooler. Is there anything wrong with this one?

i got the cooler from the guy on the marketplace. i coaxed him over here from another site. see my 'feedback' there.
its not hard to do. you have to adapt the 1/2 hose barbs on the cooler to 3/8 to the hardlines. a couple of fittings and a 3' piece of 1/2" TRANS hose and a 3' piece of 3/8" trans hose.
