My monday just ran into tuesday. monday was PITA (PB: navy agony).

Running late this morning, go to get in the truck, and I notice 2 spots under the passenger side next to the wheel. one is oil one is coolant. UGH! both are golf ball sized.

oil seems to be running down the trans cooler line i 'upgraded' when going to the 6L trans cooler. the coolant drip seems to be leaking from the flush fitting.

i was too heartbroken to look up underneath to see what was leaking.

its just one more thing i do not have time for right now. Truck is gonna stay parked until the weekend until i can fix it.

I just had to vent.

You said it strokepower, it will work it's self out. Plus maybe it was for the best that it started out little so you could see it, before it became a major deal that you didn't see. Make sense? Does to me. Glad you had somewere to vent.

so i muster up the courage and get underneath to poke about.

its the freaking IC boots leaking at the intercooler connection. its totaly oil soaked and that is what is dripping on the PS cooler hose. i mean TOTALY wet. odd thing is that is on the COLD side of the IC. -mad :cussing: -mad :cussing:-mad :cussing:

the coolant drip is coming from the hose that connects the radiator to the degas bottle. at the connection its seeping. there are crystals in the joint between the hose and the radiator.

so i guess i am going to have to pull the freaking IC pipes again to clean them out an maybe the IC too. AGAIN.

Wow dennis, I wouldn't think that you would have that much oil in the intercooler. I have had mine soaked before but not too where it drips. Try the CCV mod.

Dennis if they are that oily so soon you may have other issues. :sorry

Do you have excessive blowby coming out of the oil fill with the cap off when running? If not then you need to look at the turbo.

The compressor side seal may be letting oil by and your blowing it downstream from the turbo. Whatabudro had this problem.

I had to kit a 2002 CTD turbo with a new center section at work a couple of weeks ago, shaft play was fine but the backing plate was covered in oil behind the compressor wheel and out, compressor housing had alot of oil that had cooked on it inside.

How many miles on your turbo?

I'm with Rooster. Enough to get the boots oily. Not to actually drip or leak. CERTAINLY not enough to make a golf-ball sized puddle on the ground.

There is another, root cause problem here. A CCV mod won't fix it.

Two things to check in my mind are the same things that Rooster brought up. Blow-by and turbo seals.

thanks guys!

i have parked the truck until i can work on it, which hopefully will be this weekend!

the truck has 100k miles. i need to do 100k service and check the brakes. they were a little grabby last time i drove it.

i want to check the connection at the IC to hose. i used the black hoses from dieselsite.

'tonio- what do you mean by 'excessive' blowby? i thought blowby from the oil fill was a sure sign of bad rings. i am not sure i understand the correlation between the oil feed to the turbo causing a pressure drop.

more next week.

Some vapor coming from the oil fill is normal but alot would be what would be tell tale of bad ring seal. Nothing to do with the oil feed to the turbo. If you don't have alot of blowby then I would look at possibly pulling the compressor housing and looking to see if there's oil residue on the outlet of the housing and on the backing plate. That will tell you if you have bad seals in the turbo.

Yesterday took the F250 to meet with two adjusters to find the brakes spongy. They would work but went to the floor. A mile from home turned around. Today while loading up the truck on the flat bed via AAA Plus a hole in the brake line was found. It was on the rear driver side towards the back of the wheel and the leak was causing the fluid to spray onto the spare tire. My mechanic will find out how and why the line leaked. Looking at it breifly it looked like the line rubbed a hole into it.

240K miles on truck.
