Ford Dealership Offered Warranty on Used Purchase??? Yes or No?

Hi all, Just made the move to Superduty after trading in my F150 on a '06 F350 Crew 4X4 diesel. The dealership is offering a bumper to bumper warranty for about $3200 that will get me to 160,000KM's or 100000 miles. What do you think? Will I come out ahead or will I lose on this? The warranty obviously doesn't cover normal wear and tear items like brake linings, bulbs and wiper blades etc...

Any and all thoughts/input appreciated here as I have only a few days to decide on this...read Monday

$3200 will get you a lot of repairs. I would bypass this one. I paid $1200 for my warranty, when I bought my truck in 2003. I have had a warranty claim or two, but nowhere near $3200. I doubt I covered my warranty costs.

Take the $3200 and put in a CD or an annuity.
It will make money and you get it all back plus some at the end of the note.

It's been my exsperience that a good number of [Dealer offered Warrenties] often cover: Everything.. that doesn't fail or break.

Shop around, do yer homework and read the fine print.

$3200.00 seems purdy steap to me..

i dont know man .. i had a truck once it was a 00 cumming and i bought that warrantee and THANK GOD I DID ...long story short they had to buy it back form me under the lemon law ... so ... it happens .. and if i ever owned a 6.0 ... id get one better be safe than sorry

One baaaad experience already, thus my inquiry.

I put about 150 miles on this truck after purchasing it and then it wouldn't start. Towed it back to the dealer and it turned out to be the IPR fitting that was faulty. It took 7 friggen days to diagnose and repair and the dealer ate the deductible as I had JUST bought it from them. The engine/turbo has the Ford 100k warranty already...so I guess my real question is; how's the tranny in these trucks? The pumpkins and x-fer case? I'd rather spend this money on upgrades but if these trucks have a bad rap for other than the 6.0 this is what I need to hear. I am a complete Superduty Newbie so I ask you all who have far more experience with these rigs than me...is it worth laying out this kind of cash for a warranty??? Currently it's 3 to 1 in favor of saving my cash.

If it's the Ford ESP plan, go for it.
1 and a half years ago I purchased my 03 and spent 2800.00 on the Ford ESP for 4 more years and 48,000 miles. I'll never get to the 48,000 mile mark, but still have 2 1/2 years left for engine and transmission and differential.(and a few more things).
Haven't needed it yet, but If she needs injectors it will pay for it self in the long run.
Just my opinion, though.

3200 to cover up to 100K when the motor is already covered to 100k? Not a deal, unless you are the one receiving the $$$.

The Ford 100,000 doesn't just cover the motor (someone correct me if I am wrong) but it covers the entire drive train. So another 100,000 mile warranty for $3200 is $3200 to much.
