Nice now I gotta show mine off.
Dallas is even neater to see at about 3 a.m. from about 5,000 feet out the window of a B-52.
When I was stationed at Carswell AFB from 86 to 90, my crew had a night flight one evening. We were supposed to fly the low level portion of our training mission in MT & WY, but due to thunderstroms there, we couldn't go. We were fat on fuel and too heavy to land back home at Carswell. We had to spend a couple of hours burning off fuel so we could get down to landing weight. Once returning to the DFW Metroplex, we asked permission from the air traffic control in the area to do the "Metroplex tour". The controler laughed and replied, "Permission granted for the Metroplex tour, cleared to wander aimlessly at will. Remain at 5,000 feet." The DFW airport was closed for the night, so we were about the only aircraft in the area. For the next couple of hours we just drove around taking in the sights of Dallas & Ft. Worth at night. It was way too cool.
