Can someone fill me in on this foil delete? What is it and what improvements can be expected?

i could be totally off base but i wanna say all it is is taking the foil off the intercooler pipe some should chime in with more info for ya
There is No IMPROVEMENT, per-say, by removing the foil, other than.. if you have installed a "Wicked Wheel".. you will hear more of the Turbo Whine. If you have the stock wheel.. you may hear a [bit] more whine too.

X2On most any 7.3 by now.. It's probably Cracked, Split and Peeling off the I/C charge tube anyway. Looked like crap when it was new IMO. Cheap.

I removed the foil on my pipes over the summer. Mostly to paint the pipes. Looks better that way, I think anyway. I noticed a little more turbo noise from under the hood after I did it.

I removed the foil when I did my glow plugs (the tube was off anyway). I noticed a lot more turbo noise between 9 & 15 lbs of boost.I like the noise and it looks better.

What these post don't say is that the 'foil delete' gives you an instant 50 hp boost! If you paint your pipes the boost jumps to 75 hp and with brighter paint it can be even higher... It's all up to you, how much boost do you want from the 'foil delete'?
