Ok my up pipes sound like a cherping bird while under any kind of boost and the pipes are completely black at the "Y". I've tried all the searching that i could but still couldnt find the answer that i needed. I found the part # for the carquest chevy donuts that im going to use. Here is my question, Do i have to take the pipes all the way off? The bottoms dont look like they are leaking but my the looks of the way that i the pipes go into the "Y" at the top makes it look like i have to take the bottom bolt loose also. Is this true?

Thanks Alex

Yes

The up-pipes go into the "Y" collector or baby's butt at near a 90* angle. That makes removing the baby's butt from the up-pipes otherwise impossible. To put it all back together after replacing the donut gaskets, you have to either put the up-pipes & baby's butt in as a loose assembly or mount the baby's butt to the turbo and then install each up-pipe separately.

Tip: when putting it all back together, use a tailpipe expander to expand the ends of the up-pipes for minimum clearance going into the baby's butt & donut gaskets. Also use plenty of anti-sieze on the outter edge of the exhaust donut. The combination of the two will make obtaining a good seal easier.

The bellowed up-pipes are the newest update for the 7.3. it replaces the doughnuts that are prone to blow out witha stainless steel gasket. and the up pipe itself has a flexible tube to compensate for vibrations.

they will run you 300 bucks but will never have to deal with a exhaust leak again..which you will eventually.
