I bought my 97 f250 a couple of months ago. the previous owner thought the motor was dead so the price was $2000. After learning a few things about diesels, I began work and quickly came to the conclusion that the motor was good due to the milage being so low (~150k). I shimed the FPR and replaced all fluids and got it running (like crap). did a lot of research and finally found that the IDM had water in it so i replaced it. Ran better but still poor, so after all electric tests were complete and fuel and oil pressure seemed fine, I pulled the injectors and had them sent to rosewwod diesel for a rebuild to stage II's with the suspician that the injectors were the cause for its behavior. Jim said that they were some of the worst fe's ever seen. Got them back and installed. Now it runs amazing, especially giving the price (~$3500 with II's).
