We got in from Our 2 .5 week road trip this afternoon. The truck pulls good but does have a worrysome glitch. I usually run 65 on the interstates and on the level I'm getting 6 - 8# boost and 600 - 850 * egt's, 175* trans. This OK (I think),remember I'm towing a 14k, 37' toyhauler. The hills are what I do not like.If I "drive" it (no cruise) and lift the throttle as it lugs down to 1600 rpm or so,the egt's will start to clime and hold at around 1150,boost will be around 12 to 15.If it downshifts, rpm will go to2400,boost and egt will come up rapidly.I can control the egt rise with the throttle and keep it at 1190 and 18 to 20 boost, but I dont think I should have to.If I am running on cruise,it will lug down to 1600 but then downshift and go to full fuel and 2600 or so rpm.The egt's and boost skyrocket and I have about 5 seconds to cancel the cruise before the egt goes past 1250,and is climbing like an f 16 in afterburner. When I cancel and let it drop back to 50% fuel (still 2600rpm) the egt drops back and holds at 1170 and 20 to 25 boost.I am literally driveing it by the egt gage.I am going to ditch the K&N for a NAPA gold 6637 tomorrow because I think its starved for air.Any suggestions or inputs on this???
edit) It pulls hard from a stop, full fuel gives me 2600 to 2800 rpm shifts and 28# boost at a steady 1140.It also has a very satisfying woosh when it shifts and the turbo unloads. My wife makes fun of this and tells everyone I spent all these $$ and 3/4 of the summer just to make it "woosh".
