Filter Minder/Indicator Problem

Last night while driving home my little indicator light on the dash came on. I thought no biggey - that filter has been in there for a tad over 40K miles and I was getting ready to change it anyway.

So this morning - after much searching to find the second of the two filters I bought 3 years ago - I popped the hood and went to change it out. First thing that I notice is the filter minder thing does not look normal - as in the only part there is the clear plastic case. No guts, no nothing. Found the black cap still attached to the electrical connector down in the wiring. Little more searching found the yellow diaphragm and sleeve - but no springs or such.

Anybody else have one of these things just come apart like that? At the point it was at - it was sucking air straight in bypassing the filter.

Dealer had one for $20 bucks and some change so she is all better now.

if i had to bet id would bet you had some HOT coolant spill down onto
the filter minder...cracking it...im certain thats what happened to mine

the steering arm rubs it...on my 04...even w/ the nylon sock on it).
